Cafe Hopping: Lola's Cafe @ Kovan & Wimbly Lu @ Serangoon

Visited Lola's Cafe for the first time after roller blading along Punggol Waterway with CSH. We actually bladed all the way to the cafe from Punggol Promenade. Exercising before enjoying the food. Hahaha.

It's a small cozy cafe located along 5 Simon Road, which is approximately 5 minute walk from Kovan MRT station. The food here has been highly recommend by cafe hoppers & food critics. Eileen also recommended the food but haven't had the time to travel so far for food. So since finals is over (WHEEEE!) , plus the fact that we were already at Punggol, we decided to try out Lola's after blading for approx 5 hours.

We reached the cafe at around 5:30pm and got a table immediately despite not having any reservations. If you're heading down for dinner (especially in a group), it is recommended to make a reservation before heading down. Cause chances are that you would have to wait for an hour or so before getting a table during dinner time since it's such a popular cafe!

Dinner serving starts at 6pm so we waited for about half an hour before we were served our order. We ordered Bacon and Mushroom Spaghetti in Truffle Cream Sauce ($14) to share (w/o bacon actually cause girlfriend is a vegetarian). But nonetheless, it was delicious!

The truffle oil cream sauce was just heavenly ! The cream sauce wasn't too thick also, just right! Slurped the plate clean hahaha. So gonna get some truffle oil for my own cooking! Truffle oil makes anything and everything taste extra good. YUMMZ.

Oh and if you don't already know, Lola's Cafe prices are all nett prices! No service or 7% GST charge!

After dinner, we decided to head to Wimbly Lu for dessert! Since we were in that area, I had to make a trip down to Wimbly Lu. Been wanting to visit that cafe since 3 months ago for their ice cream waffle which a lot of people raved about! Constant cravings for ice cream waffle these few days... Anyway, we tried making a reservation for 2 on the way to Kovan MRT station but they were already fully booked for 7pm! But we still went ahead and made our way there for walk-in orders. So, make a reservation in advance if you don't wish to queue!

We took a train from Kovan to Serangoon and walked for about 10-15 minutes to reach Wimbly Lu. On the way there, we saw the sun setting. I love sunsets <3

Got lost for a little while, but made it there in the end. Hahaha. In desperate need of sweet treats to boost our energy levels. Surprisingly, we got a seat immediately without having to wait once again even though it was around 7pm when we reached (:

Ordered their Buttermilk Waffle with double scoop of Salted Caramel and Rum&Raisin Ice cream  ($11.50) as well as Molten Lava Cake ($6) to share.

Loved their waffle! It was crispy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside! I felt that we added too much of the chocolate sauce though. But it was still nice! Just the waffle alone was delicious enough. Hehehe. And the Molten Lava Cake can be comparable to the one at The Coffee Connoisseur (TCC). But I prefer the one at TCC slightly more than Wimbly Lu's because the chocolate lava is a tad bit too much for me here. It felt like I was drinking chocolate. But for chocolate lovers, this is a must try. For $6, where else can you find such affordable and quality lava cake?

I am definitely going to return for more waffles and probably different choice of ice cream! Just can't get enough of their waffle! Yum-in-my-tum. Till next time! <3
